July News: Independence Day is the major summer holiday for the USA. Let us all remember our military as they continue to fight so we can enjoy our freedom. May you and your family be safe as you enjoy the Independence Day celebrations.
July means that summer is well underway and Christmas is less than six months away. As gas and food prices continue to rise, people are staying closer to home -- I know that we are not traveling very much this summer. Make this year the Christmas of hand-crafted gifts. Stitch up stockings, tree skirts, framed pieces, wall hangings, and ornaments. If an addition has been made to the family, whether it is a baby or via a marriage, stitch something to commemorate the occasion. I have four stockings to get done this year and plan to get started on those this month.
Do you enter your stitchery in local or state fairs? Fair season is underway in some areas of the country, while other fairs are coming up quickly. If you have not done so, think about entering some of your pieces; they do not have to be intricate pieces, enter something smaller to start. It is up to all of us to keep the art alive and the more people who see the work, the more interest may be generated.
I am still working on the large Nativity I began around the end of September last year. I keep putting it aside to work on other, smaller projects, but I will get it finished this year (I hope!).
I am very happy to announce that International orders can now be filled via the Shopping Cart!!!! That means that if you live outside the United States, you do not have to contact me via email in order to place an order! I am hoping that this new flexibility will help our overseas friends have some great S.E.X. (Stash Enhancement eXperience)!

I am not currently able to carry these products myself, but I have provided links to the websites so that you can order them directly. I have discovered some wonderful sources for hand-dyed fabric and floss, as well as silk floss and am happy to be able to share them with you. As gas prices continue to skyrocket, shopping online means that you save on fuel costs, as well as time traveling to and from a craft store and dealing with crowds. You can shop any time of the day or night, while you’re eating or watching TV, dressed in your pjs, or when you have just a couple of minutes to spare. During the holiday shopping season, you’ll miss out on the crowded stores and malls and searching for a parking spot that isn’t miles from the entrance.
